More About Jarrah

I am a New Jersey state licensed clinical social worker who has been working in the mental health field for the past 20 years. I received my  Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Brandeis University, and graduated summa cum laude from Monmouth University with my Master's Degree in Social Work.  I also have a post graduate certificate in Fertility Counseling.  I have a great deal of experience in the treatment of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, behavioral issues, relationship issues, and family conflict. My primary objective is to provide you with quality therapy, using a compassionate and humorous nature.  I vow to work with you to identify goals that are suitable to you, and help you to work toward greater emotional well-being, in a timely manner.  I will communicate with anyone you identify as integral to your treatment, and will be available to you and those involved via phone, text, or e-mail.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of mental health treatment settings.  While obtaining my Bachelor's degree, I worked in a group home for severely and persistently mentally ill young adults. Upon graduating, I obtained a position at a vocational rehabilitation center, were I worked for 3 years as a case manager for mentally ill, developmentally disabled, and physically disabled adults.  I then transitioned to a position as a clinician on a community outreach team, providing therapeutic services and support to the severely and persistently mentally ill, in their homes.  After several years in that position,  I obtained a position as a mental health clinician in one of the top adult partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment centers in New Jersey.  I later became the coordinator of the adolescent psychiatric program with the same company.  For the past eleven years, I have been working as a private practice therapist.

I have a great deal of experience working with people facing many different challenges, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse/dual diagnosis issues, relationship issues, and family conflict.  I implement multiple therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy and techniques often employed in dialectical behavior therapy, to address each individual's very personal and challenging treatment issues. My interests lie in assisting patients with addressing issues related to depression and anxiety, OCD, grief and loss, infertility and pregnancy loss, and interpersonal relationships.  While most people consider therapy to be individualized, I also utilize couples and family sessions, as well as group sessions.

My Philosophy

You are making the choice to seek therapy.  As a result, you may find you are feeling vulnerable, hesitant, and uncertain.  We will work together to make this a comfortable and positive experience for you.  Please be as open and honest as possible in order for you to receive the best possible outcomes in your treatment.

Entering into therapy is a serious commitment.  Because of your desire to feel better, I too make a commitment to you.  While I strive to provide you with the best service I possibly can, you may have a need that is outside the realm of my professional expertise.  If that is the case, I will assist you in finding someone who can skillfully and appropriately address this need.

We are a Team
